Collapse ▲Do you love gardening? Do you love sharing what you’ve learned with others? Then consider becoming a Master Gardener℠ Volunteer!
Since 1979, the NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ program has recruited, trained, and engaged people to serve as volunteer educators who strengthen Extension’s delivery of science-based horticultural knowledge to North Carolinians. Our mission is to connect people to horticulture through science-based education and outreach that empowers North Carolinians to cultivate healthy plants, landscapes, ecosystems, and communities.
After completing a 16-week course, a final exam, and a 40-hour internship, Extension Master Gardeners℠ give 20 hours of volunteer service back to Harnett County each year. This volunteer service can take the shape of working in our Demonstration Gardens, developing presentations with our Education and Outreach team, answering questions in the Plant Clinic, and much, much more! Volunteers will also have access to ongoing educational opportunities taught by both the Horticulture Agent and leading experts in the gardening industry– all with the goal of equipping volunteers with the information they need to help out gardeners all throughout the counties they serve.
Those interested in applying but still not sure what’s involved can attend a preview and interest session before applications are due.
Interested? Check out the information for next year’s class below. Excited but the application isn’t live yet? Add your name to our waitlist! Our priority at this time is recruiting Harnett County residents.
