Get Your Hands Dirty: Public Garden Workdays!

Want to learn the secrets of a thriving garden and gain practical skills? Join us for our Public Garden Workdays! These events are a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in gardening, from complete beginners to seasoned green thumbs, to dive in and get hands-on experience.

What to Expect

Our garden workdays are designed to be interactive and educational. You'll work alongside Extension Master Gardeners, learning best gardening practices directly from those who know them best. This isn't just about theory; you'll be actively participating in various garden tasks, putting those practices into action.

What You'll Learn and Do

Depending on the season and the needs of the garden, you might find yourself:
  • Preparing garden beds: Discover how to amend soil for optimal growth.
  • Planting and transplanting: Learn the proper techniques for giving plants the best start.
  • Weeding and mulching: Understand effective strategies for weed control and moisture retention.
  • Pruning and trellising: Master the art of shaping plants for health and productivity.
  • Harvesting: Experience the joy of gathering fresh produce.
  • Composting: Learn how to turn kitchen and yard waste into valuable garden gold.

Come Prepared!

To make the most of your experience, please dress for the weather – whether it's sunny, cloudy, or a bit chilly. We'll be outside, so comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty is ideal. Most importantly, come ready to learn and engage with fellow garden enthusiasts!

Ready to cultivate your gardening knowledge and connect with nature? We can't wait to see you there!
