Polk County NC 4-H Homeschool Club

Beginning in January 2020, homeschoolers in Polk County will have a brand new resource: a 4-H Club geared just for them. After polling area homeschoolers, we discovered that home educators in our area have a variety of interests–many of which are not being met via other programs. To address that gap, we are adding a new 4-H club specifically for homeschool families.

4-H Homeschool Discovery Club will meet monthly on the first Thursday of each month from 1–2:30 p.m. For this semester, the club will offer a “sampler” of some of the other dedicated club offerings such as woodworking, sewing, and cooking. Other activities will be decided on by the group as a whole.

Any homeschooled youth aged 11-18 is invited to register for the 4-H Homeschool Discovery Club. There is no registration fee, but spots are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All meetings will take place at the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Polk County office on 79 Carmel Lane, Columbus. For more information on this club or other ongoing 4-H programs, visit the Polk County website or call the office at 828-894-8218.

Note: While the 4-H Homeschool Discovery Club is specifically for homeschoolers, homeschooled youth may register for any of the 4-H Clubs announced for the Winter Semester.
