Do you love gardening and being outdoors? Do you love serving the community that is home to hundreds of home gardeners? The North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Harnett County Center is offering the Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteer Training Course beginning August 1, 2019.

Over 15 weeks, participants will be trained in a variety of horticultural topics, including composting and plant nutrition, insects and weeds, common landscape diseases and disorders, lush lawns, landscape design, propagation, and fruits and veggies. Following the course, students are asked to complete 40 hours of service with N.C. Cooperative Extension as we seek to provide unbiased, research-based information to the residents of Harnett County. With volunteer opportunities in answering gardening questions in our plant lab or at event booths, working with children and teachers, sharing presentations with the community, or working in one of our several demonstration gardens, we hope that you will get in where you fit in!

We will be holding a preview session on July 18, 2019, starting at 9 a.m. Applications and fees of $110 are due July 21, 2019. Call 910-893-7530 or email Horticulture Agent Selena McKoy at sdmckoy@ncsu.edu.

Applications are available at the bottom of this page or at the Harnett County Agricultural Center.
